Artist: The Tallest Man on Earth
Standing a whopping five feet seven inches, Kristian Matsson is not actually the tallest man on Earth. That just happens to be the name the Swede decided to go with when he released his self-titled first EP back in 2006. Three LPs and another EP later, he has won a healthy following due to his unique voice, charismatic stage presence and quality of music. I would go so far as to say that Kristian Matsson is probably the best guitarist I have ever had the pleasure to see perform live. And I’ve seen Eddie Van Halen rip up Eruption.
Tallest Man’s music has quite often been compared to that of Bob Dylan, and if I were asked to name someone to compare him too – Dylan’s who I would choose as well. Matsson tends to rely on nothing other than his voice and his guitar (sometimes it’s his piano) when making music and the result is raw, natural, quality jams.
Now for some suggestions. I love pretty much every song he’s ever made but these would be good to start with:
Where Do My Bluebird Fly, The Blizzard’s Never Seen the Desert Sands, Love is All, Little River, his cover of Graceland (which may even be better than Paul Simon’s original) and finally, his first single ever and probs my favorite:
